Okay, so I’m thinking for the month of February I might try vegetarianism. I want to do it for a few reasons, firstly because I eat limited types of foods and I kind of want to force myself to try new things. I think that’s the only reason I feel like sharing because the other ones may attract a shit storm, but know that the intentions aren’t superficial and pretentious lol.
So the reason I’m posting this is to ask any vegetarians/vegans that follow me or end up seeing this, what kind of foods are the best alternatives ? What was the hardest food to give up if you felt it was hard? Any advice? Haha
Good luck! I did the same thing last year for three months and it changed the way I eat forever as I discovered that not every meal needs meat and I found veggies and fruits I never knew I liked. The one thing I would suggest though is avoid replacing meat with vegetarian meat substitutes like Quorn or tofu as you can make great tasting and filling meals from vegetables and pulses alone. The one cookbook I found really helped me was Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s ‘River Cottage Veg Everyday!’ I know you’re in Australia but you might be able to order it online for delivery or find some of his recipes online. Good luck!
Thanks so much for the advice! Haha I wasn’t intending on replacing meat with tofu because I already know I hate it but its good to know that it’s not gonna be a massive issue! I’ll have a look for that book! Thank you again
No worries. Yeah I hate tofu too. And Quorn just looks so unappetising and tastes so bland.
